Bear Brook Classic MTB Race

Race Report: Bear Brook Classic Mountain Bike Race 2019

BUBBA Trophy Series was thrilled to bring back the Bear Brook Classic
🐻 for year number 4. This year's race was the first stop on the Bubba Trophy Series. Bear Brook State Park, in Allenstown NH, was a great starting point as it offers a wide variety of trails. It felt good to be back racing with Bubba Trophy Series. They sure delivered the goods. It was great to see old racing friends and to have the chance to make new ones. The course design was perfect for the season opener. Conditions proved difficult, with cool weather and rain hitting the trails the day prior. We were told to that it would be flowy, but techy and tough all in one. Riders encountered a variety of terrain including everything from old farm roads, rolling hills, technical and tight pine forest single track, a touch of mud, some downhill flow, bridge crossings, and nearly 300 ft of climbing per lap. Naturally, this course also featured some of the best scenic views of the beautiful park. Each lap was approximately 10 miles long. The well known trails like Big Bear, Hemlock and Hedgehog were in great shape and didn't disappoint. The many moistened roots and rain lubricated rocks provided for some fun racing, which resulted in some interesting line choices. Glad to have put some race miles into the legs  🔥👌

Six Gap of North Georgia

This challenging and breathtaking route will take you on a rollercoaster ride of peaks and valleys. The Gaps has sections with sustained grades of 9 to 12 percent, so be ready for some serious climbing. As the ride progresses don’t forget to pay attention to your surroundings, as you will be experiencing some of the most stunning landscapes. The  entire loop including the short 3 mile US 129 connector is 77 miles long. The southern loop is 35 miles and the northern loop is 38 miles. Each of the six segments includes crossing through a mountain “gap” or low pass, hence the name Six Gap. Four of these gaps are at points where the Appalachian Trail crosses the roadway. Woody’s Gap - will reward your hard day’s efforts with a long and scenic descent.     The Six Gaps is a tough but fun ride and is one of my personal favorites -- take on the challenge and you won’t be disappointed. 230 Washington St Weymouth, MA 02188 (781) 337-7125                         Please follow us:  Facebook I

🍁 Maple Is My Staple 🍁

🍁      Maple Is My Staple  🍁      Bike wheels are prone to wear and tear over many miles ridden. So, if you’re a cyclist, replacing your wheels is inevitable. However, getting replacement wheels can be difficult with the many options available on the market. Good carbon fiber wheels are supposed to be strong, durable and lightweight. I opted for a set of  Maple  and couldn’t be happier with one race season under my belt on these wheels. Here are a few reasons why. Maple offers excellent perf ormance for it’s price, specifically designed for their toughness. These wheels have been battle tested in New England on rough trails and rougher roads. This has provided Maple with the ultimate proving grounds to create wheels for everyday use and not just specific wheels for racing or training. The most affordable “one wheelset” is extremely versatile and can handle any terrain encountered through gravel, cyclocross, rocks, roots and sketchy stuff that you probably shouldn’t ride but

Race Recap 2021 FLE # 6 - 30 /60 mile - Markham Masher

The 2021 FLE #6 - 30/60 - Markham Masher, as the state racing season moves closer to the midway point, the racing venue moved to Seminole Wekiva Trail in Lake Mary, FL. The course consisted of 8 miles of flowing single track located in pine scrub and oak hammock of the Wekiva Springs State Park. The sun was out, the humidity was low and temperatures and trails were perfect for this annual South Florida stop on the FSC circuit. The race course was fast and flowy but also demanding because of all the tight and twisty turns.  Trail Map The start and brief       Going into the race, I felt great. I had my bike dialed, I knew my fitness was good, and felt like I had good knowledge  about the course. Everything worked out perfectly, aside from a close encounter with a non racer. The individual chose to ride the trail in opposite direction of the race course. We encountered each other on a blind corner. I was able to keep my bike upright but had to come to a stop. Other than that, I felt
