Julbo Eastern Grind MTB Race 2019

Round 6 of the BUBBA Trophy Series was held in northern Vermont at the legendary Catamount Outdoor Family Center. The Julbo Eastern Grind MTB Race course offered multiple “A” line options on fast flowing trails. The race was upgraded to UCI C1 status.

This challenging track would push racers to their endurance limits. Course distance was 5.3 miles per lap and featured 80% single track. The single track was twisty, moderately rooty and rocky, but flowed well. There were three moderate climbs, and the rest of the course was littered with short, punchy climbs throughout the wooded single track.

With near perfect weather this venue was incredible as the race brought a bit of a larger crowd to watch the best riders compete as they were gunning to earn valuable UIC-sanctioned ranking points.

That’s a wrap! The 2019 mountain bike season is over. It was an absolute joy to race this year with the Bubba Trophy Series. The premier XC racing series has grown so much in 2019. Not only did riders get to experience some of the most technical single track in the North East, but it was all done at low key, inexpensive race events for all levels of riders.

Race Recap 2022 FLE # 7 - Highway to Haile's - Newberry, FL

Haile's Trails is a singletrack mountain bike trail in Newberry, Florida. A popular cross-country race loop that's only rideable during race weekends. The property is only open on FSC / FLE race weekends. On Saturday, the trails are open to everyone. On Sunday, they are only open to registered racers.      The racecourse views are breathtaking, the singletrack is in great condition and flows well, and you will be tested by the rugged terrain. Mainly the chunky rocks that are scattered around an old rock quarry. There are many elevation changes using the quarry terrain and medium to long climbs throughout. This makes the racing exciting.        The 2022 version of the Highway to Haile's presented by  Gone Riding had the course running in the opposite direction. The race had racers doing 5 laps on a approximately 6 mile course. With a big turn out the stage was set for an action packed day.      This race demands you go hard in every s...

Race Recap 2021 FLE # 6 - 30 /60 mile - Markham Masher

The 2021 FLE #6 - 30/60 - Markham Masher, as the state racing season moves closer to the midway point, the racing venue moved to Seminole Wekiva Trail in Lake Mary, FL. The course consisted of 8 miles of flowing single track located in pine scrub and oak hammock of the Wekiva Springs State Park. The sun was out, the humidity was low and temperatures and trails were perfect for this annual South Florida stop on the FSC circuit. The race course was fast and flowy but also demanding because of all the tight and twisty turns.  Trail Map The start and brief       Going into the race, I felt great. I had my bike dialed, I knew my fitness was good, and felt like I had good knowledge  about the course. Everything worked out perfectly, aside from a close encounter with a non racer. The individual chose to ride the trail in opposite direction of the race course. We encountered each other on a blind corner. I was able to keep my ...

Six Gap of North Georgia

This challenging and breathtaking route will take you on a rollercoaster ride of peaks and valleys. The Gaps has sections with sustained grades of 9 to 12 percent, so be ready for some serious climbing. As the ride progresses don’t forget to pay attention to your surroundings, as you will be experiencing some of the most stunning landscapes. The  entire loop including the short 3 mile US 129 connector is 77 miles long. The southern loop is 35 miles and the northern loop is 38 miles. Each of the six segments includes crossing through a mountain “gap” or low pass, hence the name Six Gap. Four of these gaps are at points where the Appalachian Trail crosses the roadway. Woody’s Gap - will reward your hard day’s efforts with a long and scenic descent.     The Six Gaps is a tough but fun ride and is one of my personal favorites -- take on the challenge and you won’t be disappointed. 230 Washington St Weymouth, MA 02188 (781) 337-7125       ...
